Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports that running back Ronnie Brown will “almost certainly” not be re-signed by the Dolphins.
Brown is coming off his worst NFL season and will hit the dreaded 30-years-old mark in 2011. While he has less wear and tear on his tires than the average 30-year-old back, most observers believe his inevitable decline started this past season.
The Dolphins backfield will likely look completely different in 2011 as both Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are due to become free agents. Of the two, it may actually be more likely to see the older Williams back.
He burned a lot of bridges last week with his angry comments about the organization but it is damage that might be smoothed over with a one-year contract. Around the league there will likely be more demand for Brown’s services, with the Patriots being mentioned as a possible suitor.
