The Redskins acquired DE Jason Taylor from the Dolphins. The Skins gave up a 2009 Second Round pick and a 2010 Sixth Round pick to get the 11-year veteran.

According to reports the Redskins will not have to negotiate a new deal with Taylor as he will honor the deal he has in place. There still is no guarantee for the the Skins that Taylor will play beyond this year. Taylor has stated previously this would be his last year.

“We’re fortunate there was a guy that caliber on the market when somebody got hurt,” Washington executive vice president Vinny Cerrato said. “Normally, in most years, there’s not a guy of that caliber on the market.”

Taylor has started every game each of the past eight years. He had 11 sacks during the 2007 season, giving him 117 over his career.

“His play speaks for itself. I think it’s easy to talk about Jason Taylor. He’s got statistics and everything else to back up everything that he’s done,” Cerrato said.

He is expected to report to Redskins Training camp on Monday.

In the world of the NFL you always hear about players suffering strange injuries, and the following for sure falls in that category. The Palm Beach Post is reporting that Dolphins QB Josh McCown, who was brought in this past offseason to compete for the starting QB job, injured his index finger doing of all things - chopping wood.

Yes, McCown according to the story, hurt the hand two weeks ago and a TV station reports that he needed six stitches on the finger to sew it up. The Texas TV station says that Josh and brother Luke McCown were cutting firewood when the injury took place. There is no word if the injury is going to sideline McCown for when the Fins start training camp.

One thing is for sure, if it does, it will likely give the early lead in the QB race to John Beck, and maybe even push McCown down past rookie QB Chad Henne, who at some point is expected to be the starter in the future. Let’s hope McCown hires someone to cut his firewood in the future.

In trying to drum up support for the coming season, the Dolphins’ marketing department gets an “A” for effort … and an “F” for execution. Up until a week ago, the department had used the slogan “Respect the Code” as the mantra for its club. Problem was, nobody had any idea what that meant. Realizing the absurdity of having a slogan nobody understood, the department recently changed it to “A New Beginning.”

Fantasy Football site KFFL.com has declared Fins RB Ronnie Brown as a fantasy “bust” for the 08 season. Read below on what the site has to say about the Dolphins feature back:

Brown (knee) was placed on Injured Reserve in Week 7 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. It was his third straight season cut short due to injuries. The early reports are encouraging; Brown could return in time for training camp in July. However, it generally takes 18 months for running backs to return to their pre-injury form after an ACL injury. If Brown is slow to heal, this could open the door for running back Ricky Williams to see more time than expected. It is realistic Williams could be the feature back for the early portion of the season. Even as the season progresses we could see a lot of Williams. Owners are drafting Brown midway through the third round as a No. 2 back, which is way too early. He should be viewed as a weak No. 3 back with the possibility of contributing more after the midseason mark.

There appears to be a lot of misinformation regarding the severity of Dolphins CB Michael Lehan’s injured ankle. Not only is there a question of whether it’s a severe sprain or a dislocation, but the timetable for his return is also a bit of a mystery. Coach Tony Sparano has said Lehan should be ready to go full speed in a couple of weeks, but a team insider who saw the injury occur and has been monitoring Lehan’s progress said it would be fortuitous if he could even make it back for training camp. Nonetheless, Lehan remains in the mix for a starting job.
