It was mostly quiet as the NFL Trade Deadline passed at 4pm EST, with most teams staying put instead of investing their future with draft choices or other players being on the move.
The Dolphins were not one of those teams, as they made two moves prior to the deadline for the future and also to shore up their run game.
The first move was shipping off slot receiver Isaiah Ford to the Patriots in exchange for a 2022 seventh-round pick.
The Pats have been desperate for wide out help, and are no longer the threat they have been over the last 20 years.
With Ford gone, Antonio Callaway’s role in the Miami offense should expand and he should get more chances, and if not him Malcolm Perry and Lynn Bowden Jr. could get more shots as well.
The other move saw Miami trade for running back DeAndre Washington from the Chiefs.
Miami sent the Chiefs a 2021 sixth-round pick in exchange for Washington and a 2021 seventh-round pick.
Washington could be the answer to fill in for Miles Gaskin, who is expected to miss three games with a sprained MCL.
The running back has been active for just one game this season, taking three carries for five yards and catching one pass for two yards.
Dolphins are looking better this year. Fingers crossed they can do something. Only need a couple more wins.
