It took just two games for the Dolphins to see that things were not going to work out with defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, as the team waived him Tuesday.
Sunday in a 26-18 win over the Jets, Nkemdiche made little impact, playing just three defensive snaps in the team’s first win of the year.
The team claimed Nkemdiche didn’t play well in practice, and even Dolphins defensive coordinator Patrick Graham described Nkemdiche as “rusty.”
The 25-year-old came to the Dolphins in August from the Arizona Cardinals, inking a one-year deal worth up to $1.1 million.
He was placed on the physically unable to perform list as he continued to recover from a torn ACL suffered in December 2018 and get into better playing shape.
Instead, it’s a wasted signing of a player the team was hoping would have some impact on the defensive line.
