Dolphins Trade RB Jay Ajayi to the Eagles for a Fourth-Round Pick

The Dolphins pulled off a stunner of a move today, as with the trade deadline upon them they have traded number one running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles for a fourth-round pick.

Ajayi has rushed for 465 yards on 138 carries this season — his third with the Dolphins since being selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Boise State.

In 31 games, Ajayi has rushed for 1,924 yards and nine touchdowns.

It’s a move that sounds like the Dolphins have admitted after losing quarterback Ryan Tannehill that it was going to be an uphill climb to get back to the postseason, and now with Ajayi gone it feels like the team has given up on the season.
