The Dolphins have placed rookie receiver DeVante Parker on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list ahead of Thursday morning’s start to training camp, Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
The team also announced that safety Don Jones has been placed in the PUP list, among other roster moves.
Parker, the first-round pick out of Louisville, has spent almost two months in a boot after having a screw replaced in his surgically repaired right foot in early June.
Parker and Jones could spend all of training camp and the exhibition season on the PUP list — which allows the Dolphins to use their roster spot for someone else.
Jones, a 2013 seventh-round pick who is views as a special teams ace, suffered a shoulder injury last season that he had surgery to repair this offseason. Jones didn’t recover in time to participate in the Dolphins’ offseason program, and it appears he’ll miss some of training camp too.
The Dolphins also placed tight end Gerell Robinson on the non-football-injury list.
In other moves, the Dolphins signed defensive tackle Calvin Barnett, receiver Kai De La Cruz, and offensive tackle Chris Martin on Wednesday, and they waived defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy.
