Dolphins interview New England’s Nick Caserio

imgres

Earlier today a report came out that the Dolphins were going to interview New England’s director of player personnel Nick Caserio.

This came out of nowhere as Lake Dawson of the Titans and Brian Gaine of the Dolphins were thought to be the final two choices for the job. This must mean Ross doesn’t trust Dawson or Gaine if he has to keep fishing for new candidates.

I don’t see how either of these two would want to take the Dolphins job, especially when it is clear they are the backup choices.

The interview with Caserio apparently started early this morning at the crack of dawn and ended around 1 o’clock. The Dolphins wanted to get him in as early as possible so they could start the second round of interviews.

I would be surprised if the Dolphins landed Caserio. He is viewed as a “GM of the future” and is well respected. Jason Licht (who declined the Dolphins GM job) was under Bill Belichick like Caserio  is now.

When Licht was in New England he was never allowed in the War Room on draft day. Caserio is and has been for a while now, it is clear how well respected he is.

Maybe Stephen Ross decided to give more power to potential GMs? Maybe Caserio just wanted to be wined and dined for a weekend?

It is hard to predict who will be Miami’s GM in 2014, but the word on the street is that we should know by next week.
