There is a good chance LB Dannell Ellerbe will return to the lineup on Sunday versus the Patriots.
Wednesday’s practice featured some good and bad news for the Dolphins.
First, the good news: middle linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has returned to practice this week after missing this past Sunday’s game versus the Bills with a shoulder injury. Although Ellerbe was limited on Wednesday afternoon, there seems to be a decent chance he’ll play on Sunday in Foxboro.
The bad news is quarterback Ryan Tannehill is listed on the injury report. Once again, an injured right throwing shoulder is the issue. Tannehill was also featured on the Dolphins’ injury report after the team’s Week 2 win in Indianapolis.
Tannehill played well the following Sunday in a win versus the Falcons, so there is no immediate concern that he won’t play against the Patriots in Week 8. But returning to the injury report is a reminder that Tannehill likely won’t be able to survive the season if Miami’s pass protection woes continue.
Speaking of pass protection woes, newly acquired left tackle Bryant McKinnie was limited today for the Dolphins as well with a knee injury. The Dolphins did not conduct team drills in front of the South Florida media, so it is uncertain if Tyson Clabo remains the starting right tackle.
