Dolphins’ Bye Week Injury Update

LB Dannell Ellerbe is nursing a shoulder injury.

The Miami Dolphins participated in their one and only practice of the bye week on Tuesday morning in Davie.

Defensive end Cameron Wake (knee), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (shoulder), cornerback Dimitri Patterson (groin) and free safety Chris Clemons (hamstring and glute) all sat out the workout.

Although, I wouldn’t read too much into the injuries of Wake, Patterson and Clemons, as the Dolphins appear to be giving all three time to rest in order to return to full strength next week, Ellerbe’s injury is something to monitor.

He left Sunday’s loss to the Ravens in the first half with a shoulder injury and wasn’t able to return. But we’ll wait to see if he’s at practice a week from now before we speculate any further, as giving Ellerbe time to rest makes sense even if his injury is minor.

Linebacker Koa Misi, linebacker Philip Wheeler and center Mike Pouncey all appeared to be limited during the session as well.

In other news, the Dolphins signed a new practice-squad safety. D.J. Campell will be replacing Jordan Kovacs on the eight-man squad, as the latter was promoted to the 53-man roster over the weekend.
