Dolphins Sign Defensive Tackle Marvin Austin

The Miami Dolphins have added a defensive tackle to bolster depth at a position that recently lost a former Pro Bowler in Paul Soliai. It’s uncertain how long Soliai will be sidelined, but signing Marvin Austin on Tuesday morning suggests he might be held out for at least a couple more games.

Austin previously appeared in eight games with the New York Giants in 2012, which was his first season of playing experience after missing his rookie year with a torn pectoral. He was a second-round pick in 2011, but wasn’t able to live up to the expectations that came with that draft status in New York.

The Dolphins hope to tap some of the potential Austin left the University of North Carolina with two years ago.
