Dolphins Ticket Outlook for 2013

It was no secret last year that the Miami Dolphins struggled mightily to fill SunLife Stadium.  Despite a new coach and new quarterback, fans seemed less than enthused with watching Fins football compared to all the other enjoyable alternatives on South Beach.  Because there were so many tickets available directly through the team, the secondary market shriveled up and individuals looking to resell tickets found few willing buyers.

Enter the 2013 Miami Dolphins.  Ryan Tannehill has several shiny, new toys to play with in Mike Wallace and Dustin Keller and the defense added some flair and excitement with postseason hero Dannell Ellerbe and #3 draft pick Dion Jordan.  So, the team has certainly improved on paper, but fan excitement has been tepid at best.  Miami Dolphins tickets are up only 7% compared to last year, with an average ticket price of $145.71.  That puts them in the bottom third of the league.

The two most expensive games of the year are their final home games against divisional foes New England and New York.  The Patriots game on December 15th has an average ticket price of $185 with a get-in price of $51, while the Jets game is close behind with average and get-in prices of $160 and $42, respectively.

Several playoff teams will be visiting SunLife Stadium this season, though tickets for those games have not seen a sharp increase.  You can see the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens – the former lost in the NFC Championship game last season, the latter is the reigning Super Bowl champion – for under $70 combined!  Dolphins season ticket holders will certainly see some quality football this year, they just need to pray it comes from the men in aqua and orange instead of their opponents.

Below is a full breakdown of the Dolphins home schedule with average ticket price and get-in price for each individual game.

Sunday September 22nd vs. Atlanta Falcons – Avg. Price: $126, Get-in: $33

Sunday October 6th vs. Baltimore Ravens – Avg. Price: $159, Get-in: $36
