That didn’t last long. After being placed on the non-football injury list just two days ago, Dolphins’ first-round pick Dion Jordan has been deemed ready to practice.
Jordan, who missed most of the team’s offseason work, will practice with the full squad for the first time this morning. And his availability couldn’t have come at a better time.
Jordan and the Dolphins are in full pads today, which means some hitting will transpire in Davie. Concerns about Jordan’s ability to start as a rookie mostly stem from his size and whether or not he’ll be able to set the edge against the run.
Working to dispel those notions and competing with Olivier Vernon for the first-team DE opening opposite Cameron Wake will begin at this morning’s workout for Jordan.
He may still be limited, though, being that it will be his first practice in months. Regardless, it’s a step in the right direction as some suggested Jordan could miss the first couple weeks of action.
Returning to the field today puts Jordan right on schedule to play in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on August 4th.
