Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey has yet to offer an apology to anyone offended by him wearing a “Free Hernandez” hat over the weekend. Aaron Hernandez, Pouncey’s former teammate at the University of Florida, is currently in jail while he awaits trial for murder.
Many feel that Pouncey’s hat attempted to make light of an extremely serious situation and was disrespectful to the family of the young man who lost his life.
Steelers’ center Maurkice Pouncey, Mike’s twin brother who was also wearing a hat with the same message, has already offered an apology via his twitter page. Two days later, the Dolphins’ Pouncey has yet to address the issue.
The longer Mike waits, the longer he’ll be open for criticism. But should he have to apologize at all?
Here are a couple reactions from Dolphins fans sent to the Dolphins Gab twitter page:
@DolphinsGab absolutely not he believed his friend is innocent he can have his own opinion. He's not a trouble maker great leader

@DolphinsGab I do not agree with hat saying free him maybe support him (as a role model) But I really just care about his on field tactics

What do you the rest of you think? Does Pouncey need to apologize immediately or is it too late? Perhaps he was perfectly within his rights and doesn’t have to answer for apparel he chooses to wear.
