The Dolphins did some roster churning earlier today, signing wide receiver Courtney Gardner and waiving wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield.
The Dolphins say goodbye to the speedy Northern Iowa product Sinkfield in order to bring on Gardner, a bigger target at 6’4”, 215 pounds.
Gardner played JUCO ball at Sierra College where he caught 61 passes for 1,099 yards in 2011. That was enough to impress Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners.
Gardner committed to play football at Oklahoma in 2012 but ultimately failed to perform in the classroom and never saw the field.
He signed with the San Diego Chargers after the draft but left the team to handle some personal matters earlier this month.
Now a member of the Dolphins’ receiving corps, Gardner will compete with Armon Binns, Rishard Matthews, and Jeff Fuller among others for one of the team’s final two roster spots at the position.
