Dolphins claim wide receiver Marvin McNutt off waivers

Marvin McNutt attempts to snag a ball one handed at Iowa

The Miami Dolphins were awarded former Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver Marvin McNutt off waivers earlier this evening. Miami’s roster was already maxed out at 90 players, so the team had to release defensive tackle Chas Alecxih to make room for McNutt.

McNutt played for Dolphins’ wide receiver coach Ken O’Keefe in college when O’Keefe was the Iowa Hawkeye’s offensive coordinator. McNutt was selected in the sixth round by the Eagles last April and appeared in four games as a rookie but did not make a catch.

At 6’2, 216 pounds, McNutt is a possession receiver that will battle the likes of Armon Binns, Rishard Matthews, and Jeff Fuller for a roster spot this summer.
