As we continue to wait for the Dolphins to decide on a new offensive tackle, information on their search has leaked, albeit sparingly.
Here’s what we know:
- The Dolphins are expected to make a decision soon. As early as today many have speculated. They have already met with and worked out every option they are thought to be considering. Eric Winston, Winston Justice, Tyson Clabo, and Bryant McKinnie are the tackles who are playing the waiting game with us.
- The Dolphins have already made an offer to left tackle Bryant McKinnie. But McKinnie is also weighing an offer from the San Diego Chargers. However, both offers are reportedly lower than what the 33-year old veteran is seeking. Negotiations will continue, but McKinnie may have to lower his price or run the risk of both the Dolphins and Chargers taking their business elsewhere.
- But already offering McKinnie doesn’t necessarily mean the Dolphins have made their decision. They are reportedly considering signing McKinnie AND a free-agent right tackle. Which could mean a couple of things: either the Dolphins have absolutely no confidence in Jonathan Martin’s ability to play left tackle or they are worried they have no suitable replacement at the position in the event Martin was to go down with an injury.
Any last minute convictions on which tackle you believe the Dolphins will sign? Or the player they should sign?
