Dolphins Trade Up, Select Oregon Defensive End Dion Jordan 3rd Overall

Dolphins draft Dion Jordan

The Miami Dolphins just might have pulled off the steal of the draft. I have to admit, I was not in favor of the Dolphins trading up in the first round. The perceived price to do so was too rich for my blood.

But only giving up the 42nd overall pick to move up from 12th to 3rd is downright theft. And choosing the draft’s top pass rusher, a potential game changer, in Oregon’s Dion Jordan could be the final piece to a truly elite front seven.

I do have some concerns about his ability to play defensive end in a 4-3 defense, but Jordan rushing from one side and Cameron Wake on the other could wreak havoc for opposing quarterbacks on passing downs.

“I’m going to bring tremendous athletic ability,” Jordan said. “If I can do one thing it’s get to the ball.”

I think it’s a great pick considering how little the Dolphins had to give up to pull this off. It should be fascinating to see how the rest of this draft plays out as the Dolphins still have pressing needs at tackle and cornerback.

So, tell me what you guys think of this bold move by Ireland!
