Monday Morning Mock Draft Buffet: Rhodes the Favorite?

The 2013 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching and everyone seems to disagree on who the Miami Dolphins will select with the 12th overall pick. At least it seems that way among the fan base.

Nationally, among the media and so called “experts” there appears to be a favorite emerging. That favorite is Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes. Rhodes certainly fits a need, as Miami hopes to come away from this draft with a starting caliber corner. I’m just not sure he’s the best fit schematically for the Dolphins.

But nevertheless, more and more mock drafts are beginning to pencil in Rhodes to Miami at twelve. And he may end up being the most logical selection in the event the Dolphins choose to stay put or are unable to move up or down in the first round. The elite prospects along the offensive line could very well be off the board and many would consider it a reach if Jeff Ireland selected an offensive playmaker or any other defensive back save Dee Milliner.

I have composed a list of 21 mock drafts from around the internet and nine or about 43% of them have Rhodes to Miami. But there is still a wide discrepancy among mocked selections for those experts who don’t have the Dolphins taking Rhodes. Of these 21 mocks, there are 10 other players that are predicted to become Dolphins, including only two selected more than once.

So take a look at these mock drafts and let us know your thoughts. Which picks do you like? Which ones do you hate? And are there any prospects that these experts may be sleeping on that could be on Miami’s radar?

You can see these entire mock drafts at NFL.com, National Football Post, Fox Sports, Walter Football, Draft Countdown, CBS Sports, Pro Football Talk, SI.com, Mocking the Draft

Pro Football Talk changed their pick for the Dolphins late last night when they released their updated mock draft. They have them taking OT Eric Fisher. That seems unrealistic to say the least considering most have Fisher off the board in the top five and he’s even considered a dark horse to go No. 1 overall to the Chiefs. This mock also has Lane Johnson slipping all the way to 27??? Check it out here http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/07/2013-pft-mock-draft-version-2/

    No love for Tavon??

I’m guessing most of them filled out their mocks with the idea that the Dolphins would be drafting for need instead of BPA. Most see the additions of Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson and highly doubt the Dolphins would add yet another receiver.
