Brandon Fields and Dolphins Agree on Four-Year Extension

Dolphins and punter Brandon Fields finalized a four-year contract extension Saturday that makes Fields the fifth-highest paid punter in the league, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Fields will be paid $13.3 million over the course of the deal, including $3.3 million in guaranteed money. Fields, 28, was in the final year of his current contract, earning $1.4 million in base salary.

“Brandon is very happy,” said Ian Greengross, who put the finishing touches on the negotiations in person Saturday. “He knows that he’s been getting better every year and he’s earned it.”

His 48.8 yards per punt last year ranked third in the NFL.
