Koa Misi was arrested by the Broward County Sheriffs Office on a felony battery change stemming from a warrant in Santa Barbara County, California, Brian Biggins of the Palm Beach Post reports.
The 25-year-old Misi was released on $10,000 bond.
“We are aware of the situation and are in the proccess of gathering information. As a result, we will refrain from any further comment,” the Dolphins announced in a statement.
A 2010 second round pick out of Utah, the 6-foot-3, 251-pound Misi has started 20 of 28 games and totaled 75 tackles with 5.5 sacks. After playing in nearly 60 percent of the defensive snaps and posting 4.5 sacks as a rookie, Misi missed four games and posted just one sack while playing around 37 percent of the snaps.
Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin discussed Misi earlier this week at the owner’s meetings in Palm Beach, Florida.
“He’s a guy that can hopefully give us continue in certain rush situations to add,” Philbin said. “He’s a guy that we’d like to see in as a third year guy; we’d like to see him emerge a little bit more and be a little more productive and make some maybe more impact plays.”
