Philbin Talks QB’s, Fans Want the Dolphins to Go for Peyton Manning

The Dolphins have a hard decision to make at QB in 2012, and it sounds more and more like the team won’t make QB Chad Henne a contract offer, meaning the only QB that may be back on the team from last year is Matt Moore.

There’s been chatter about the team going after free agent to be QB Matt Flynn, and Dolphins fans want the team to go for the gusto and try and get Colts QB Peyton Manning.

Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, coach Joe Philbin said that somehow, someway they are going to find the player they want at QB in 2012.

“Quarterback is an important position to the offense, it’s an important position to the football team, we’ve got to have a player perform with success at that position,” Philbin said. “We don’t have a mandate that the player has to be 24 years old, 33 years old, or 29 years old. We’re looking for a manager, a leader, an accurate passer, a decision maker, a guy that can make a play when we need it.

“However that shakes out is fine by us.”

Dolphins fans want Manning bad, as there’s even a billboard out there put out by The sign, along an Interstate near the Dolphins’ complex. Under an image of Manning about to throw a pass in a Dolphins uniform, the sign reads “MANNING TO”

The website encourages fans to fill out a form urging the Dolphins to bring Manning to Miami. A list of those supporting the campaign will be given to the Dolphins and Manning’s advisers, the site says.
