Dolphins To Select Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick If He’s Available?

According to’s Jason LaCanfora, the Miami Dolphins have settled on who they will pick with the 15th selection in the 2011 NFL Draft. LaCanfora told news partner the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero that the Fins are going to pick Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick is the first quarterback to ever have three straight seasons of passing for 2,000 yards and rushing for at least 1,000 yards while in college but he would need at least a year of sitting on the bench before he could even be considered a starter in the NFL. Still, at number 15 in the first round, it’s a big stretch to draft Kaepernick. The Fins have more pressing needs and maybe they trade out of the first round completely to get more picks for this year and next year and still get Kaepernick.
