Dolphins To Conduct Private Workout With Arkansas TE D.J. Williams

Arkansas tight end D.J. Williams has drawn interest from the Miami Dolphins and is scheduled to conduct a private workout for them later this month, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. Williams interviewed with the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Steelers at the NFL scouting combine, per a source. Williams is a versatile prospect who has drawn comparisons to New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller. “You’ve got to like it because he’s very successful in the NFL,” Williams said at the combine.

“I like watching him play, his style. He’s that type of person who can get down field and run amazing routes. He can cause a mismatch against a slower linebacker or a smaller defensive back. And he has the ability to get on the line of scrimmage and block, too. I enjoy watching him play, and that’s not a bad comparison at all. It’s a very good one.” Williams ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, so he stood on that number at Arkansas’ Pro Day workout. He did drills and ran routes, though.
