Round and Round the JT Carousel Goes!

As we all know, the topic of the possibility of Jason Taylor re-signing with the Dolphins this off-season is low, especially with head coach Tony Sparano referring to JT in the past tense during an interview.

But this week, the JT rumors have hit the ceiling, and his contract situation has come to a head, and the Dolphins will either have to re-sign Taylor, or let him walk. And this decision for the Fins could come way sooner than anybody thought.

Originally, we all thought the Trifecta would wait until after the draft to make their move on Jason, as to see what they could get in the draft.

Now, after the Dolphins have begun to reach out to Jason in an attempt to get him back in a Dolphins jersey, not once, but twice, but the New York Jets, and the hated Rex Ryan are in play to take JT from our grasps, and use our own weapon for all of these years against us!

According to multiple sources, including both John Clayton, Tim Graham, and Adam Schefter, JT was in The Big Apple today, on a visit with the Jets, and will be back for more on Thursday.

But before you jump to conclusions and think that JT is a traitor, check out what Taylor’s agent, Gary Wichard had to say about the visit:

“I pushed him up there,” Wichard just told me. “I twisted his arm. He loves the fans in Miami and he gave up $8 million last year to play in front of fans. I am the one to push him to go up there because I don’t know what will be available to on April 23 or 25th or whatever.”

“How do you say no to Rex Ryan? Wichard said. “You got to listen to him. I cannot explain to you how much Rex wants him up there.””He’s going to hear, feel and touch the situation, and then we’ll meet to decide what happens next,” Wichard said.

So, from those quotes that the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero got out of Wichard, it sounds as if Taylor is attempting to use the Jets as leverage to get the Fins to give him a new contract. But it also sounds as if Rex Ryan really does want Taylor, and who wouldn’t.

Right now, Taylor would be a great way to get to know the Dolphins defense, and give Ryan a way to exploit the Fins offense that much more. Wichard also said today that Taylor will make a decision on whether he will join the Jets this weekend.

Judgement Day has come for the Fins. And whether or not they want Taylor will be shown by this weekend at the latest.

The Dolphins need a pass rusher to complement Cameron Wake bad as of now. Taylor could fill that role, and add depth at the least to a lineup that does not have the luxury to brag about their depth at this point. This is no time for the Dolphins to get stubborn here. JT is a class act, and while it may just be that JT is one of the fan favorites, but I want Taylor harrassing the Jets this year, not the other way around!
