Dolphins Weekend Rundown

The Dolphins had a busy weekend news wise, and while most of the news was bad for the fans, all of the media updates just go even further to indicate that the Dolphins will be looking to make some moves in the next couple of years to better their team at every position possible, and that they still have a long ways to go to being a championship team.

Brown Taken In For DUI?

  • Over the weekend, Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown was taken in for not performing up to snuff in the field-sobriety test. Brown has said that he is distraught over the event, but due to some Sun-Sentinel researching, it appears that no Ronnie Gene Brown has been arrested this weekend. The charge was believed to be able to scale down to only a traffic violation with some time, and possibly some cooperation.

Jeanty Back To Bengals:

  • The outside linebacker prospect that the Fins were interested in bringing in through free agency this year has received a one year tender from his team, the Cincinatti Bengals. Jeanty would have provided some quality depth on the Fins squad, especially in the special teams area of the field.

Smiley on The Trade Block:

  • Over the weekend, virtually the biggest piece of news was the news that Bill Parcells called up Fins starting left guard Justin Smiley, and told him not to come to the start of off-season workouts this Monday, due to the fact that the Dolphins were going to try and trade him for a 3rd round pick. The Dolphins are now in need of a starting caliber left guard, because Smiley is all but gone at this point. Seattle is believed to be interested in Smiley, but instead of a 3rd round pick, they have two 4th rounders. Throughout his injury riddled career in Miami, which is the chief reason for his banishment, Smiley was regarded as the Dolphins 2nd best lineman, behind Jake Long.
