The Dolphins have re-signed nose tackle Jason Ferguson to a new contract, though the details of the deal have not yet been released.
This move is curious because now the Dolphins do not necessarily have to break their backs to get a nose tackle in the first two rounds.
Ferguson is suspended for the first eight games of the season, but can still participate in all offseason activities, training camp, and pre-season games. Once Week 1 starts though, that is when Ferguson’s suspension starts to take in effect.
The Dolphins will no doubt have Ferguson ready for the stretch run, and having a healthy Ferguson down the stretch preparing for the playoffs, may end up to be a good thing for the Fins, instead of having old Ferg banged up from all of the wear and tear from earlier on in the season.
