Things have gotten a bit stranger in the land of Ace Ventura as Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald is saying that Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter has been downgraded to “out” for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a “coach’s decision.”
One thing is for certain: the reason for Porter’s downgrade is not injury-related, according to team spokesman Harvey Greene. Not surprisingly, no one from the Dolphins or Team Porter had any comment. If his track record is any indication, assume that he said something that was grounds for being benched. I guess old habits die hard. Coach Sparano may try to be a spin doctor here, but it is what it is: Porter is “out” because of “sprained lips.”
