At Least Two Fins Sit Out Preseason Game w/ Swine Flu

In a bizarre case, the Miami Herald is reporting that a couple players sat out tonight’s preseason game with of all things – swine flu:

At least two Dolphins players will sit out Saturday’s preseason game because of something that has never showed up on an injury report: swine flu. [Editor’s note: Eric Mangini would still call it a leg injury.]

Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have advised the rest of the team that some players (possibly as few as two) will be out after testing positive for the virus.

There is not yet a “major fear” that swine flu has spread, but the team has told the players to maintain good hygiene and wash their hands regularly to avoid coming down with the condition.

Darlington writes that “the disease is considered manageable and symptoms in healthy adults tend to be mild,” but clearly the possibility of an outbreak on a team that spends all day in such close quarters would be a concern.
