The Dolphins have released wide out Todd Lowber according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

Considered a long shot to make the final 53-man roster, wide receiver Todd Lowber was released by the Dolphins Monday.

The 6-foot-3 Lowber, 27, was a basketball and track standout at Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J., who didn’t play football until he was 24. The Vikings signed him in 2007 and he eventually earned a Super Bowl championship ring while toiling on the Giants practice squad along with Dolphins receiver Brandon London. He spent the summer with the Cowboys in 2008 where he was often featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks documentary.

Lowber, who has no NFL game experience, was signed to the Dolphins practice squad last November but was eventually released. He was re-signed last January, but an undisclosed injury has kept him on the sidelines during the recent OTA days.

“Todd is a good athlete with good speed and all those things,” Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said last week. “But there’s just a lot more to that position.”
