Ricky Williams has already gone through a one year retirement, a four game suspension, and on top of that, a one year suspension. He is also 32 years old. Isn’t that when most running backs decide to throw in the towel? Well, despite the age, Ricky, says that he does not feel one bit like 32 years old. Even with Ricky saying that he does not feel like 32, he still says that he will retire after two more years in the NFL.

The suspensions might have sounded bad back when Ricky had the potential to rush for 200 yards every game, but now that I think about it, I would rather have Ricky with us now, and how enough tread on his tires to help us win the Super Bowl, than have him wear down as the premier back for us four years ago, to only be truly retired as of last year.

The truth is, we need Ricky Williams to have any chance at winning the Super Bowl. The truth is, we need Ricky Williams, to even win the AFC East again. The truth is, we need Ricky Williams period.

Ricky helps make the Wildcat the successful product that it is today. He makes the power running game move, and he also makes the Dolphins running game a dual threat that keeps opposing defensive coordinators stay up waaaay too late for comfort, just to think up of a game plan for the both of them, Ricky and Ronnie.

Ricky might just be the most important part in the crowded back-field this year. Think about it, teams will be paying extra attention to Ronnie Brown, who is coming off of a Pro-Bowl season. That leaves the rest of the back-field in charge of picking up the slack. Ronnie cannot do it all, and with the yards that Ricky says that he still has in him, he needs to prove it and step up week in and week out.

The first that I heard of Ricky’s proclamation, I felt sad. Yes, sad. Back in the day, Ricky happened to be one of my favorite players. He showed that he was tough, and that he was a true star that could rush for 2.000 yards a season. That was all before he smoked it all away.

But, when I heard that he was thinking of coming back, I could not believe it. Now that he is back, I feel that I am being ripped out of seeing Ricky in his prime. Ripped out of seeing Ricky run through all of the opposing defenses. Now, that was football! So, I will enjoy these next two years, spending my time paying extra attention to Ricky, since I never really got a chance to see him really play. Since I never really got to see him reach his true potential.
