Wake a Reason Taylor Won’t be Brought Back?

Dolphins fans probably wouldn’t mind seeing Jason Taylor return to the team in 2009, but there could be a very good reason the team doesn’t – Cameron Wake. The Miami Herald had an interesting article today about Wake, and if his progress continues, the team may not have to go out and bring Taylor back.

”We’re going to watch Cameron this week and see what Cameron does,” Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said Friday. “I know the Jason thing is out there.” It’s out there, but it would be a shame to see Wake get off to a hot start, then have him not get the playing time he deserves because the team goes out and gets Taylor to come back.

“One of the things we think we did a nice job of this offseason, and it kind of goes under the radar a bit, is when you look at some of the guys we’ve added — Cameron Wake, Tearrius George being one of those guys and then all of a sudden getting a chance — this is just me talking — to see [linebacker Erik] Walden pass rush a little bit more, to put Charlie Anderson in that mix. Those things interest me a little bit.”

Wake could be a huge addition for the Fins, and he could be the biggest reason why the team passes on bringing back Taylor.
