South Florida May Make Bid for Super Bowl in 2013

Before you know it, the home of the Dolphins will be getting set for the 2010 Super Bowl, as they will host Super Bowl XLIV next season. Today’s Miami Herald reports that South Florida may make a bid for the game in 2013. Here’s the tidbit:

Even as the weeklong activities for Super Bowl XLIII began Monday with the arrival of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals, the folks in charge of South Florida’s Super Bowl aspirations were doing work on the 2010 game, which will be played at Dolphin Stadium , and thinking about holding another game in 2013. ”We’ve been invited by the NFL to bid on the 2013 game,” South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee chairman Rodney Barreto said Monday. “You have to be invited by the NFL to bid, and we are preparing our response.” South Florida will enter its bid by the April deadline, Barreto said, with the hopes of landing a record 11th Super Bowl. But if 2013 seems a bit far off to think about, Barreto and about 15 members of the Host Committee will be in town this week doing legwork for the 2010 game.
