Losing Like They Did Sunday a Tough Lesson to Learn

While the Fins are no doubt coming of age, Sunday was a setback, more so the last few minutes when the defense could have held and the team could have escaped Houston with what would have been a huge win. Consider that Matt Schaub wasn’t exactly pinpoint on that final series missing six of ten passes, the Dolphins had their shots to win that game in the last minute and they know it.

“We didn’t come up with the ball,” coach Tony Sparano said today. “We were in the right position; we just didn’t finish.” Schaub himself did come up with the biggest play of the day, running into a wall at first, but bouncing off and eventually finding his way into the end zone with three seconds left for the win.

Good teams find ways to win, and young times sometimes find ways to lose. The Dolphins did just that on that final drive, and while the playoff talk has been shelved for one day, the team needs to take the hard lessons of this loss and move on and learn from them. We’ll see if they do that when they host the Ravens Sunday.
