Taylor Denies He Wants Out of Miami

Taylor

Going against what many thought he would say this morning, Dolphins DE Jason Taylor did NOT demand a trade from Miami, which was what was expected to happen.  The morning press conference was highlighted by Taylor saying he still wants to be a Fin, but understands if the team wants to move him.  “I want to win in ’08,” Taylor said. “That’s what I want to do.” On the subject of a trade he replied: “I told the Dolphins from Day One that if it was best for the organization I would be open to a trade. I’m playing ball in ’08. If (a trade) doesn’t work out then I’m a Miami Dolphin. I love this place. This is not about Jason Taylor. I’m just a guy. … This is about the Miami Dolphins, which are so much bigger than me.”

It’s been stress from day one for Taylor and the new regime in Miami, and Taylor did admit that there are hard feelings between he and Bill Parcells.  Taylor said that the story of he watching film one day at the faculty and Parcells ignoring him was true, but declined to go much more into it.  As far as not coming to training camp, Taylor also said that will not be the case.  “Some of the things said from some of the local guys were disappointing,” Taylor said, “When it’s not facts, that’s what disappoints you.”

It was head coach Tony Sparano that said Taylor had said he would not be at training camp, so someone, somewhere is not telling the truth.  For now, the Dolphins look like the bullies in this saga, and I would still expect them to look to move Taylor and not let this distraction continue with a first-year head coach and lots of new players on board.
