New QB in the Fold; McCown Signs Two-Year Deal with Miami

McCown

The Dolphins have themselves a new quarterback, as NFL Network reporter Adam Schefter is reporting that the Fins have signed former now Raiders QB Josh McCown.  The deal is a reported two-year deal worth $6.25 million.  The move is an excellent one for Miami, as it gives them some flexibility at the QB spot, with McCown and Jon Beck, the team is now to a point where they have that spot taken care of.  The Fins in a matter of two weeks have turned the QB spot upside down, getting rid of Trent Green, losing Cleo Lemon today to the Jags, and keeping Beck.

McCown is only 28, so he has lots of playing in front of him.  Last season in his only one in Oakland, he had a QB rating of 69.4, with 10 TD’s and 11 picks.  He threw for 1151 yards.  Oakland went back and forth between three QB’s last season, McCown, Daunte Culpepper and then JaMarcus Russell at the very end of the year.  With Russell being the starter without a doubt in 2008, it was time for McCown to move on.
