Today’s South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting that the Dolphins may have some interest in Saints linebacker Mark Simoneau. The 31-year-old had a solid season for the Saints in 2007, but it appears they want to move on and get another linebacker in there for the 08 season either through free agency or the draft. There was talk that Zach Thomas would play that position if he ended up signing with the Saints. The agent for Simoneau – William Vann McElroy, stated that he has a meeting set with Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland at next week’s NFL Scouting Combine. He declined to give up what players they will talk about, but it appers that Simoneau may be on the list. Last season Simoneau played in all 16 games with the Saints, racking up 70 tackles and two sacks.

This is the kind of signing I’d like to see. He’s not young, but he won’t be expensive either. They might have a lot of cap space, but they’re not building for next year.
