Twenty-five years after his first stint with the franchise, Dan Henning was hired as the Miami Dolphins’ offensive coordinator; Henning is very familiar with the way that Dolphins head of football operations Bill Parcells does things, as they worked together when Parcells was head coach of the New York Jets. Also, he was Miami’s quarterbacks and receivers coach in 1979 and 1980 under head coach Don Shula.
Henning has coached in the NFL for 28 years, most recently as offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers from 2002-06; he was also head coach for the Atlanta Falcons from 1983-86 and San Diego from 1989-91. He has also spent time with the then-Houston Oilers, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills.
