The Miami Dolphins’ secondary is depleted – very depeleted. The safety position has been hit especially hard, with the losses of Yeremiah Bell, Travares Tillman and Renaldo Hill. Now you can add one more to the list – Cameron Worrell. Worrell has joined this group on the injured reserve list after tearing a left knee ligament in the second quarter of the Dolphins’ 40-13 loss to the New York Jets last Sunday.
Miami no doubt misses all of their injured secondary, but probably will miss Worrell the most; he has recorded 50 tackles – ranked first among the Dolphins secondary and 4th among all Miami defensive positional players. For now, Lance Schulters will probably be the starter at strong safety. Let me throw this unusual factoid at you – of the 11 players on the IR for Miami, 4 of them play safety. Read into that what you will, but the Dolphins’ opponents are very aware of the Dolphins’ depleted secondary, especially at safety. Whether that has contributed to Miami’s winless season is up for discussion, but it has to at least play a small part.
