DT Holliday out at least 1 week

Vonnie Holliday, Miami Dolphins defensive tackleThe Miami Dolphins admittedly has one of the worst run defenses in the National Football League coming into Week 5.  They quite possibly may have become the league’s worst run defense; defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday sustained a fracture to his right ankle during the Dolphins’ loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday; the ankle is in a cast.

He is expected to miss at least one game – and possibly more while the fracture heals; Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron told Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald regarding Holliday and the injury, ”He has had that injury before, and he said he is very positive that it will not be a long-term thing, but we will keep you posted on that.  He has been casted with a slight fracture.”

The void left by Holliday’s absence will be rather difficult to fill not so much by the lack of depth per se, but by the personnel who would replace Holliday on at least a temporary basis.  Two rookies, DT’s Rodrique Wright and Chase Page provide depth at the position, but are inexperienced as such.  Despite this, they will be used out of necessity more than anything else plus they will receive the invaluable game experience needed in the event that this should happen again in the future.
