Dolphins release LB Smith, ink DE Ninkovich

On Friday, linebacker Kelvin Smith became the first Dolphins draft pick to be waived by the team.  The Dolphins are hoping that Smith clears waivers so he can perhaps be signed to the practice squad.  The Dolphins also signed former New Orleans Saints defensive end Rob Ninkovich.  Ninkovich, who was released by the Saints on Thursday, was the team’s (Saints) in 2006.  He played in three games last season before sustaining a knee injury and going on injured reserve.
