Fins Trim Roster, Porter on the Field After Surgery
Posted by Matt Loede on August 27th, 2007 filed in NewsThe Dolphins made a few roster moves on Monday, a day before the league-mandated deadline. The team cut 9 players, and will have to say “so long” to one more before 4pm tomorrow to reach 75. Gone are P Ryan Flinn, S Chris Harrell, CB Shirdonya Mitchell, RB Ray Perkins, K Matt Prater, TE Jason Rader, WR David Sutton, S Christopher Vedder and DT Kevin Vickerson. The cutting of Prater and Flinn means that Jay Feely is the kicker and that rookie Brandon Fields will be the punter.
Also Monday Linebacker Joey Porter was on the practice field, taking part in one-on-one drills and running on the right knee he had arthroscopic surgery on almost three weeks ago. “It feels good for my first day out there trying to do some football work,” Porter said. “I think this far after the surgery, not being that far out, I feel pretty good as far as the process we’re at right now in getting healthy. I’m ahead of the schedule right now of where I want to be.”
