Dolphin Defensive Tackle Tasered, Arrested
Posted by Stephen Rhodes on June 23rd, 2007 filed in NewsMiramar, Florida television station WTVJ is reporting that Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Frederick Evans was charged with battery on law enforcement, disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest after a fight with police officers in South Beach early Saturday. Police said the incident happened about 6:30 a.m. after a taxi driver called 911, reporting that a man forced his way into a cab and refused to get out.
Officers arrived and ordered the man out of the taxi, but he refused, police said. A scuffle with three officers ensued, with one being bitten on the wrist and another suffering several bruises, police said. Police said they were forced to use sabers to subdue the man. Officers charged Evans, 23, with three counts of assaulting law enforcement officers in addition to the other charges, police said. One officer was treated at a local hospital for injuries. Evans, who is 6 feet 4 and weighs 305 pounds, was drafted by the Dolphins in 2006.
